POL (German word for pole) is a live improvised performance.

Using high intensity light, video and audio projection including massive sub-bass POL subjects the audience to a overwhelming flow of stimuli and strives to achieve a perceptional situation of disorientation and recollection. POL “attacks” the audience, by challenging all sensual barriers. The main theme is overload.

POL is a semi-surround environment composed of 7 videoscreens forming a parabolic panorama that fills the entire viewfield of the audience. It has a dedicated centre, from which the sounds and images originate and from there then flicker from screen to screen, towards the edges, emanating a sense of “visual radiation”.

Model 5 is a projection of 10 by 3,5 metres showing the face the of Japanese performance artist Akemi Takeya (4 portraits, side by side).

Like a Francis Bacon painting the artists’ face is being twisted and manipulated, in an electronical space holding her alter ego prison and exposing it to the mechanical manipulation of the computer. The overwhelming mechanical rhythms – supported by a lot of sub low – and the image manipulation create a sense of schizophrenia, like the body is being pulled apart and dissolves in electronic space. Modell 5 is an unprecedented visual, acoustic and physical experience confronting the visitor with one of the influential Free Radicals of electronic art from the nineties.
